Echolocations: Canyon.
Echolocations: Canyon.
The Echolocations series is an ongoing musical project conceived by Andrew Bird, who travels to sonically inspirational sites; there he improvises violin compositions based on the acoustics of the spaces which surround him. The first installment took place in Southern Utah at Coyote Gulch, beneath a naturally occurring sandstone arch.

The second installment of the Echolocation series was recorded under the Hyperion Bridge, which spans the L.A. river. ‘Canyon’ featured a simple semi-circular bisection, and we wanted to follow up with another reductive geometry. This time we based the composition on triangles.
